The initial objective will be to generate new business by meeting with existing clients and potential customers in Japan. Functions

Initially, this position will be covering Japan and, in time, other countries in the Asia Pacific region. Your responsibilities for this position will be as follows:

1. Represent Biomedical Systems for the purpose of introducing our company and our services so that we secure studies utilizing the numerous services we provide in a clinical trial setting. The means to achieve this will involve a mixture of telemarketing, cold calling, scheduled face-to-face meetings, corporate presentations, industry trade shows, executive briefings, sponsor tours of corporate headquarters, etc.
2. Identifying opportunities – working together with Inside Sales, Budgets & Contracts, Operations and other BD personnel to identify opportunities in the marketplace. Generate new leads and prospects.
3. Opening doors: position the company to deliver services pitch for new opportunities.
4. Trail blazing: Identify key contacts to build new business and cultivate current customers.
5. Closing deals: work with customers to close deals.
6. Relationship Building: Establish relationships with current and future clients. Establish opportunities in current customers for long term sales growth. Optimal goal is putting MSAs and preferred vendor relationships in place, then expanding horizontal (more services) and vertical (revenue) growth.
7. Future Building & strategic planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy leading to sales of the company's clinical diagnostic services. Continue to keep the company on the leading edge by working with key contacts. Leverage multiple relationships at sponsors and CROs in clinical development, outsourcing and operations to build consensus.

You will be working as a member of a team that currently has Global Business Development personnel in the U.S. and Europe. You will work closely with the operations staff in Japan and report to the Corporate Head of the Asia Pacific Region and communicate regularly with the Director of Clinical Operations, the Director of Imaging Operations and the Scientific Affairs group. You will work closely and communicate with other Business Development personnel in Europe as well as in the US and the operations staff for all diagnostic areas.

Depending on where in Japan the candidate lives, you might be able to work from a home office. Regular visits to the Tskuba, Brussels or St Louis office might be necessary.

Profile

• Language skills: Must speak Fluent English and Japanese. The ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
• At least two years experience with a company centralizing either cardiac safety, pulmonary, imaging or/and ePRO services.
• Bachelor /Master degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration or equivalent by experience
• A highly experienced sophisticated Sales Professional with a significant profile within the clinical services, CRO or the wider pharmaceutical technology market.
• At least 5+ years experience with the pharmaceutical industry and strong background with in-depth industry and more particularly clinical trials knowledge
• International experience – Japanese market minimum
• A dynamic “hands on” and “can do” attitude which exudes confidence and credibility.
• Strong sales and negotiation skills
• A top flight individual achiever with a highly consultative approach and the credibility to be able to negotiate and close deals at the highest level through the formation and retention of multiple business relationships with decision makers, influencers and other stakeholders as appropriate.
• A demonstrable track record in selling high value services in the pharmaceutical sector. The track record will include both new business and current account penetration.
• A communicator of considerable capability, with great presentation skills
• Must show ability to work independently, achieve results, set targets and establish priorities
• Must have a high level of intellectual, professional and interpersonal ability
• Team-player, collaborative, ethical, entrepreneurial, competitive, dynamic, proactive, result oriented, out-of the box thinker
