Gestational Diabetes
Studies indicate that gestational diabetes occurs in approximately 2-5% of all pregnant women in the United States. While the problem usually disappears when the pregnancy ends, if left untreated, can cause complications for both the mother and baby.

With Biomedical Systems Gestational Diabetes Program, a blood glucose meter is provided to the patients who receive in-home instruction on collection of glucose values and assessing  fetal movements. The data is collected and analyzed daily by one of our high-risk obstetrical nurses that man our Perinatal Nursing Center 24/7. The nurse will review the information, conduct a maternal-fetal assessment with the patient and reinforce the physician plan of care.

When indicated and in conjunction with strategic health care providers, including hospitals, home care agencies, and physicians, nurses teach insulin administration techniques, dosage calculations, mixing, and storage.
