Each year the employees of Biomedical System select one charity that will be the main recipient for fundraising activities that are held throughout the year. For 2010 the company has selected Support Dogs, Inc. Support Dogs, Inc. is a St. Louis based non-profit agency that helps people with special needs achieve an improved quality of life through the use of assistance dogs. Utilizing the services of almost 300 volunteers, Support Dogs, Inc. provides service dogs to recipients’ nationwide, as well as pet-assisted therapy to thousands in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The organization is also a member of the Delta Society and Assistance Dogs International.
The BMS EPIC committee fields nominations from several charities that are presented by Biomedical Systems’ employees. The EPIC committee then has the difficult task of selecting a single charity among the many deserving organizations that present. Over the years Biomedical Systems and its employees have donated hundreds of thousand of dollars to organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Associations, Autism Speaks and the Muscular Dystrophy Society. “Biomedical Systems is looking forward to standing for such a great charity and through fundraising efforts we hope to make it a successful year,” said Megan Shilharvey, President of the BMS EPIC committee
