Biomedical Systems, a global provider of centralized diagnostic services for clinical trials, has opened its Asian Headquarters in Tsukuba, Japan. The City of Tsukuba in the Ibaragi Perfecture, is about 50 km northeast of Tokyo and home to a burgeoning life sciences community. This new facility will initially provide logistical support for equipment, operations and training for studies located in Asia, particularly for Japanese based clinical trial sites.

Operations for the Tsukuba facility will be overseen by Marcio Shiratusuchi. Mr. Shiratusuchi has a vast background in the technical aspects of clinical trial work and is fluent in four languages; Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and English. Project management for centralized data acquired and analyzed will continue to be handled from the St. Louis, MO and Brussels, Belgium locations.

“Biomedical Systems’ goal is provide our Sponsors with support as close to their corporate operations as possible,” said Kevin J. Klingler, President of Biomedical Systems Pharmaceutical Services. “We feel that it is essential to have people that know the languages and customs of the region to facilitate the clinical process; including shipping equipment, training, query management and resolution, and other components of operational support.” The Tsukuba facility will join with the St. Louis, MO Corporate Headquarters and the Brussels, Belgium European Headquarters
